Level of Detail Expressions: Include

Level of Detail Expressions: INCLUDE

Use an INCLUDE expression to bring additional dimensions into a calculation, without affecting the structure of the view. This gives results that are more granular than the level of detail in the view. An INCLUDE expression can be simpler to write than a FIXED expression, especially if the structure of the view will keep changing. Also, an INCLUDE expression responds to dimension filters, unlike a FIXED expression.

Lesson Objectives

At the end of this lesson, you will be able to:

  • Describe when to use an INCLUDE expression.
  • Use an INCLUDE expression in a view.
  • Describe when INCLUDE is preferable to FIXED.
